Dougie Freedman.

Nottingham Forest fans have given mixed reactions to the news that Dougie Freedman has been nominated for Championship Manager of the Month.

The nomination comes after Forest’s 13-game unbeaten run since December last year, including a surprise victory away at table toppers Middlesbrough.

However, not all fans are happy with the current form. Seventy-year-old season ticket holder and lifelong fan Frank Terzza said the team was too negative.

He said: “The team doesn’t play with enough confidence, we are too defensive and are reluctant going forward.”

Barman Ben Branson, 19, agreed. He said: “I think we’re boring. It’s seen in the amount of games we have drawn that we should have won.

“We are lacking fire-power and killer instinct.”

While some fans may be quick to be critical, others said Dougie has done a good job under the circumstances.

Forest fanatic Joe Gretton said: “He’s done a way better job than anyone could have done in that situation.

“We can’t moan when we are in an embargo.”

The embargo has left the club with few options in terms of signing new players, and caused restrictions on wages.

That is something 1865 Cub member Dean Parr, of Mapperley Top, said was beyond Dougie’s control. He said: “It’s not his fault that he has had to deal with an embargo. He can’t buy anyone and as long as we aren’t getting beaten every week I don’t see how you could complain.

“I’ve been coming to Forest since I was ten and the way in which he has organised the club from disarray is to his credit.”

Other managers up for the award include Hull’s Steve Bruce and Burnley’s Sean Dysche.

The Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month will be announced tomorrow (Friday).
