Deadline day is usually one of the busiest days of the year for most clubs but the Nottinghamshire teams enjoyed a quiet day yesterday.

Admin issues made for a frustrating day for Nottingham Forest who couldn’t bring in the striker they desperately wanted.

An error in the loan contract of Kyle Ebecilio meant that he could not be sent back to parent club FC Twente, leaving Forest with only one open squad place and only £5000 to offer potential signings.

Forest also had to turn down half a million for winger Jamie Paterson as there was no recall clause in his loan contract to Huddersfield.

Forest did manage to offload Kyle Ebecilio’s loan to Dutch club ADO Den Haag for the rest of the season.

They also saw a loan bid for Hull forward Sone Aluko rejected as manager Steve Bruce expressed a desire to keep his promotion chasing squad together.

Notts County had a slightly more successful day as they managed to secure the signing of Gary Mackenzie on 28 day loan from Doncaster Rovers.

Former Belgium international Gill Swerts had his contract terminated by mutual consent after making 16 appearances for the club.

Mansfield were the most active on deadline day signing 2 players as they looked to bolster their squad for the second half of the season.

Swansea defender Daniel Alfei joined the Stags on loan and winger James Baxendale joined on an 18 month deal from Walsall.

Mansfield had one outgoing as full back Nicky Hunt was signed by Leyton Orient’s new player manager Kevin Nolan.
