Rape victims in Nottingham have been told they are “not alone” as a new campaign is launched to tackle sexual abuse.

The #ITSNOTOK hashtag is being used on Twitter to promote Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness week – which started on Monday.

As many as one in four women and one in six men are affected by sexual violence in their lifetime and Nottingham Rape Crisis is working alongside the national campaign to raise awareness.

The Nottingham Rape Crisis Centre in Chaucer Street is helping to spread the message.

Volunteer Jo Groves, said: “We want victims of sexual violence to know they are not alone and this is why we actively support any campaign against the issue of sexual violence and abuse.

“The #ITSNOTOK hashtag sends a powerful message to remind all that Rape Crisis Nottingham is available to help anyone who may have been affected by sexual violence or abuse.”
